Messaging and Email Policy

Version 1.1 · Effective

Emails from Crewbird

Sign-in codes, team invites and account notices come from Crewbird. They’re needed to use the service, so they can’t be turned off while you have an account. We don’t send marketing email today. If we start, we’ll only send it to people who can unsubscribe in one step.

Emails for businesses

Businesses use Crewbird to email their own customers about work: quotes, invoices, receipts, booking confirmations, visit reminders, overdue reminders, review requests, Crewbird Pass invites and replies to requests. Some go out only when someone at the business sends them; others, like reminders and review requests, go out automatically only if the business has turned them on.

They come from no-reply@mail.crewbirdpro.app in the business’s name, and replies go to the business. Our sending domain is protected with SPF, DKIM and DMARC so others can’t send as us.

Businesses’ responsibilities

These emails are about work the customer asked for or bought. Businesses may send them only to people they do business with, never to bought or scraped lists, and are responsible for them as the sender under the CAN-SPAM Act and similar laws. Crewbird can’t be used for marketing email. Review requests go to customers whether or not the business expects a good review.

Stopping emails

Optional emails (booking confirmations, visit reminders, automatic overdue reminders, review requests, Crewbird Pass invites and new-message notices) have an Unsubscribe link at the bottom. One press stops them from that business, or from every business on Crewbird, and mail apps that show an Unsubscribe button use the same link. No sign-in is needed.

You can also reply to the email or ask the business, or write to hello@thora.cloud and we’ll stop the optional emails to your address. Invoices, quotes and receipts a business sends you, and replies to you, still come. After stopping every business, other businesses can still confirm visits you book with them. In Crewbird Pass, Me has a switch for emails about new messages.

Messages in Crewbird Pass

Customers can message a business from their Pass, and the business can answer. Messages are kept with the business’s records and with the customer’s Pass, and are seen by the business’s owners and office staff. Either side may get an email when a new message arrives.

Don’t send card numbers, passwords or other sensitive details in messages. Messages that break the Acceptable Use Policy may be removed; report them to hello@thora.cloud.

Texts and calls

Crewbird doesn’t send texts or make calls today. When it does, texts will go only to people who’ve given separate, express consent to get them, that consent won’t be a condition of buying anything, and every text will say how to stop (reply STOP) and get help (reply HELP), as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and carrier rules require. We’ll update this policy first.
